About the National Trends and Services Facet
The focus of the National Trends and Services facet of The Links, Incorporated is to design community programs that increase awareness of issues that affect the quality of like for African Americans. This facet addresses the significant economic and social inequalities that affect our communities in the areas of education, income, health, employment and other social indicators of well-being.
The VISION of the National Trends and Services facet is to eliminate disparities by reducing barriers to services through advocacy, education, and service. Our MISSION is to empower our chapters to effectively empower the communities in which we work. Our GOALS include increasing the number of sustainable and measurable programs; increasing collaborative partnerships; and extending our existing initiatives to include communities identified as having the greatest need.
In 2016, the Jacksonville Chapter is encouraging the community to take an active role in the Presidential election process by sponsoring voter registration drives at Florida’s First HBCU, Edward Waters College. Facet Chair LaVonne Mitchell spearheaded the campaign at the Schell-Sweet Center on the campus, and along with several chapter members, registered a number of new voters.
The NTS facet also participated in the Adopt A Child Project thru Operation New Hope to provide underprivileged children with gifts for Christmas and to celebrate with the children during a festive holiday party.
